Poisoning Telangana

Methods of war and exploitation of resourceful lands have changed a lot in this modern world. It depends on the perpetrators to select and apply the suitable weapon to complete their mission. Killing enemy in open war and looting at mid-night is very easy than slowly poisoning and let enemy die without any notice of who killed in what was the method applied.

Since the formation of Andhra Pradesh in 1956, Telangana people are literally engaged in a war with Seemandhra leadership which was invisible and hidden from all corners in the garb of Telugu speaking brethren. Except applying the traditional method of fighting one-to-one in war zone, the government lead by Seemandhra leadership exercised every other form to exploit resources of Telangana. Since 3 years they have speed up their attack on Telangana more aggressively and openly, unlike invisible.

One of the first and continuous wars was on the language and life style of Telangana people to gain upper hand forever in an imperialistic manner. Most of the Telangana people have already become victims of this in the form of hard-core and blind fans of Tollywood films and its personalities and writers by singing their dirty songs and praising their in-human acts that always go around woman as pleasure commodity than creator of the world.

Couple of days ago I was traveling in a Deluxe bus to Jangaon from Hanamkonda, to my surprise I have noticed a newly installed television set to entertain the passengers. It was quite interesting that many of them have accepted this free luxury of watching Tollywood movies while traveling. The high volume did not allow me to sleep but forced me to watch what was being played at 11:30 pm. By the titles of movie I came to know it was Vedam, a film that was said to spin around life of a prostitute. I remember about the news this movie was recognized by the government of Andhra Pradesh and also bagged some prize. Really I fail to understand what is in the movie that made government to award a prize for it.

What I observed in the movie is the script, accent, body language, facial expressions of female actors and moaning tone were nothing short of an adult movie, in-fact far beyond than the imagination of Hollywood adult movies. I bet this kind of movie can’t be watched along with any of female family members.

Some of the points I would like to raise are: is speaking about a price of prostitute is the most eligible to get nominated for best movie? Is teasing some of your friends and kicking his buts or slapping on face is a joke and not a humiliation? Is it not provoking by addressing every male stranger by ‘baava’ with clear exposure of female anatomy or considered as a great acting skill rather than desperate acts of road-side prostitutes.

While I was getting down from the bus, I had a little argument with bus conductor, whom I asked politely, “Don’t you think showing such kind of movie at midnight is not disturbing the sleep, injecting some nonsense and embarrassing for the female passengers”? The answer from conductor was simple and straight forward, “It was award winning movie with great acting skills,” for which I was silent and stunned at the kind of approach they had.

What I understood with these kind of scenes and rotten jokes the people behind the TV installation and RTC heads were trying to disturb the cultural fabric of Telangana people. We have been shouting loud and clear since many years, but as usual the Seemandhra government is deaf and dumb in protecting the interests of Telangana especially when the attack is in the form of cultural and arts.

I strongly believe that this is nothing short of injecting poison slowly in the minds of Telangana bus passengers in the name of free entertainment. Moreover, traveling with female passengers will be worst in every form and may embarrass female co-passengers a lot.

But my concern is a total silence from the viewers who were watching at around midnight without any complaint and accepting this kind of war without any resistance.

Though, I know clearly that my observations are not new, but the spirit of questioning for freedom as similar to unique character of the Telangana land that will never die.

In addition, in the garb of free entertainment, government is snatching the freedom of every person who boards on the bus. In-fact, government is carefully breaking one-to-one interaction with strangers which is quite normal in journey.

I heard and seen some of the movie lovers especially from Andhra region who were comfortable with this kind of ugly presentation of woman and movies which depict them as commodity, but my understanding of this differ with others.

Generally, decision makers will test their decision on a project basis, before undertaking in big way. This kind of things will help them to know the pulse of the receiving end along with positive and negative impacts.

Here I believe outcome and damage that will cause to Telangana people was part of perpetrators objective and implementing in the bus route of Hyderabad and Warangal is part of testing phase. If we ignore it without any resistance, the cunning Seemandhra people will spread its wings and snatch common man’s freedom whenever they want.

Successive governments have completely changed our mind and made us to believe that getting everything freely is right of the citizen and demanding free benefits should be top in the wish-list of voters.

Let me clear my stand here that neither I am against any movies/ songs nor literature that comes from any soil. I firmly believe that every form of the art and culture has its own significance and importance as per their views and life-style, but my argument and issue is the imperialistic approach and killing instinct on others should not be entertained. Mutual respect of arts and culture is always appreciated and welcomed, especially on Telangan soil that was known for digesting healthy elements whoever has reciprocated with this land’s culture as others barring Seemandhra.

Undoubtedly, entertainment is part of the life and I am not against it. Moreover, I have great respect for some of the movie makers of the world who allowed and explained to people in having huge canvass of thinking and entertaining.

In this on-going crucial phase of Telangana separation movement, the people have become more aware in identifying enemy and their hidden agenda, thanks for the untiring efforts of every son of the soil who exposed enemy that was visible in the form of Seemandhra leadership.

I wish we must register our strong protest to this government in all possible manners and stop exploiting the culture of this land. As Kaloji says we can regain everything after certain period of time but not culture.  So following in great poets footsteps let us raise our voice and try our best to regain our freedom of traveling.
