A king was encouraging
his citizens by rewarding merit workers for their contribution to the
society. Once a tailor was selected and was invited to collect his
due present in the courtyard of king.
Respecting tailor's
contribution king handed over him a golden scissor. But tailor
refused to take it and returned to king. Though the king was not
angry on refusal but was interested to know the reason behind his
refusal.
King asked tailor “Why did you return golden scissors?”
tailor replied “Oh! King instead of scissors you can present me a
needle. I will be happy”.
King was confused at
tailor's request and was curious to know the reasons for rejecting
golden scissors and opting for a simple needle.
When asked the same
tailor said “Oh! king there is a specific reason to reject the
scissors, because irrespective of the metal used for scissors, the
basic usage of it is to cut the cloth or any piece into two parts.
But I feel at this time our country needs needle to connect pieces
than scissor, though it is of golden.”
