In the midst of three shootouts in Nalgonda, Telangana, occurred within a week ( 2-8 April) resulting in the loss of 11 personal, our mainstream media and some intellectuals debated and discussed more on unfolding events and final outcome as usual instead of grabbing this opportunity to dig for core reasons and objectives of terror organizations and how they use people as tools to reach their goals.
Encounter I on 2nd April 2015 (1:15 -2:00AM)
The sequence of terrorizing and killing started with the death of 2 police personal at Suryapet High-tech Bus stand just after Wednesday midnight (2 nd April, 2015) when cops tried to frisk the suspected armed passengers. Later these terrorists injured a civilian at adjacent national highway on their way to escape.
Suryapet Bus stand encounter site
Dead: Constable Nagaraju and home guard Mahesh
Injured: Circle Inspector Moghalaiah and home guard Kishore
Injured civilian: Dorababu
Govt Version: The killers were suspected to be inter-state thieves and gangsters allegedly belonging to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Orissa.
Media: Police failed to handle the crisis and were short of sophisticated weapons and paid heavy price for it. Need to train police personal to avoid any such mistakes in future.
Common man and Social media: Lost the brave police personal who did their duty honestly. Complained and cursed the Telangana government for not providing sophisticated weapons and lack of training to handle such crisis but echoed the government version assuming culprits as inter-state thieves and dreaded gangsters.
Encounter II on : 4-April-2015 ( In between 9-10:30 AM)
Following intensive search for the escaped allegedly gangsters from “Encounter 1” emerged at Arvapally mandal of Nalgonda district, in the early hours. On a tip off from locals, the police speed up its operations and in the exchange of fire police gunned down 2 members but lost a constable and Sub inspector.
Dead terrorists: Zakir Hussain and Aslam Khan. These two were among the seven who escaped from Khandwa jail of Madhya Pradesh in October, 2013.
Dead Police: Constable Nagaraju and sub-inspector Siddhaiah (Succumbed to injures on 7-April-15).
Injured: Circle inspector Bala Nagi Reddy
Government version: Police was successful in neutralizing thieves and claimed it will adopt a zero tolerance policy to any anti-social elements on Telangana soil. After killing the two police at Suryapet they reached 25 kms away Mosque and took shelter for two days before coming out into public.
Media: The 2 killed were SIMI terrorists absconding from Madhya Pradesh jail since 2013 not the ordinary or inter-state thieves as claimed by government. The gun of central inspector failed to function smoothly else loss of police personal could have been reduced or zeroed.
Common man and social media: Accepted the encounter as it happened with crucial image in which a terrorist was carrying a weapon and other at driving seat of a two wheeler which was snatched from passerby. Praised the police at one hand but criticised the government for not providing modern weapons after news emerged that pistol of police failed to function during the exchange of fire.
Observation from the I and II encounters:
It was reported by police and confirmed that these dreaded terrorists were given shelter in
Dargha, but media was silent in raising such question in discussions, why?
Did terrorists feel safe to hide in mosques?
Earlier, govt denied the dead were terrorists but later accepted, why there is no co-ordination from central to state.
No religious card was ever raised in this two encounters.
Politicians and people attended the funeral of police personal and paid their respects.
The police paid their respect to brave police men who died on the line of duty.
Encounter III: 7-April-2015 at (10:00-10: 30 AM)
In this encounter 5 under trail terrorists were killed inside a police van in the outskirts of Tanguturu village in Aler mandal of Nalgonda district, a border sharing with Warangal district on national Highway 163.
Dead: The 5 noted terrorists were Viqar Ahmed, Syed Amjad Mohd Zakir, Izhar Khan and Mohammed Haneef.
No injuries and death from police side.
Govt version:
While being moved from Warangal to Hyderabad for a case hearing, these under trails tried to snatch the weapons of escorting police, however, police failed to pacify the tussle in van, but was compelled to open fire before things turn into ugly.
Media:
It focused on the unfolding events after the encounter and did its regular job as bringing the history of these dreaded terrorist and their track record where these have involved in many terrorist attacks as well as killing of police personal who were on duty.
Common man and social media:
Unlike in the above two encounters, following this, the voice of people split into two kinds, one supporting police while other cursing cops and government but sympathizing with terrorists.
But not surprisingly Hyderabad-based AIMIM and communist and Congress party cried foul and demanded for judicial inquiry into this encounter. A representation was made to Telangana CM K. Chandrashekar Rao, and after few days CM has set up an SIT to investigate and report the facts to governments.
Some of the observation on this encounters:
Serious question raised on the integrity of AIMIM head Asaduddin Owaisi who lead the critics of encounters by social media people.
Was Owaisi sleeping when Vikaruddin killed police?
Was Owaisi hearing songs through headset, when police suspected Vikaruddin's plan to kill governor?
Was Owiaisi watching film in theater when police arrested putting their lives into risk?
Was Owaisi playing tennis when Vikarudding and his gang demanded for biryani in court premises?
Why Owaisi objects killing of anti-nationals when tried to revolt against policemen?
Telangana Deputy CM Mahmood Ali too echoed the sympathy to the encounter.
AIMIM MLA Balala attended the funerals of terrorists and chants slogans against government, but media silent, why?
People in large numbers participated in the final procession of terrorists, vandalized police vehicles and pelted stones, who is behind this kind of orchestrated attacks?
Some more questions raised on social media:
What made them to become terrorists, were they short of education, employment facilities.
-These terrorists are only tools of larger conspiracy, but media did not go beyond cycle of events.
-The supporters of terrorists raised religion card, but media silent.
-When AIMIM and Islamic organizations chant Muslims are not safe in Telangana and India, media is silent, did not show any courage to put a rebuttal to this kind of false allegations.
The disruption too was reported:
The most disturbing part of the media is, it keeps on marathon series of shows and news bulletins on cricket, movies and celebrities but silent on terrorists and their sympathizers. WHY?
Is there any conspiracy to suppress this kind of news analysis in main stream media?
